- Using coconut oil on my face: Coconut oil has this reputation that its an amazing, cheap and natural product and it does wonders. FALSE! Coconut oil is a comedogenic, which means it can and probably will clog your pores. Using it on the body is a lot better altervative.
- Using physical exfoliators: when I say physical I mean those walnut, coffee or sugar scrubs to get rid of dead skin on your face. Using exfoliators that contain granolas like coffee or nut grounds can really tear up the skin. You may not see it but it will. When you use a scrub that doesn’t dissolve you can easily over exfoliate your skin and do some damage. Using chemical peels, such as The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% peeling solution is a way better alternative and It only costs $7.20. The solution only exfoliates the top most layer of you skin and will help with clearing your pores!
- Use makeup wipes: You may think makeup wipes are totally fine and get rid of all your makeup, and I’m sad to tell you that’s probably wrong. Makeup wipes honestly don’t work as well as they should, making you have to really scrub and be aggressive with your skin. For a better alternative, use micellar water with a cotton pad. Micellar water is gentle and really works to dissolve and remove makeup and dirt. When you are removing makeup, ALWAYS do a double cleanse. This means take your makeup off with a remover and then use an actual skin cleanser to really get into the pores. Using just a wipe or micellar water wont 100% cleanse the skin, but using face wash can ensure that you removes all the makeup and dirt!
